SMI’s COVID-19 Face Shields Available Now
The team at SMI is proud to be contributing to the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic by producing personal protection equipment (PPE) for essential workers. As COVID-19 continues to spread, the shortage of PPE for healthcare and other frontline workers became immediately evident. We quickly prototyped a face shield that could be efficiently mass produced to meet the growing need.
The SMI protective face shields serve as emergency disposable protection, suitable for workers in healthcare, warehouses, and other retail or frontline environments. They are made with a soft, breathable foam pad for comfort, are easy to take on and off with the elastic headband, and allow for use with a face mask, glasses or safety goggles. These face shields help protect against the transmission of respiratory droplets, blood pathogens or body fluids, in order to help slow the spread of COVID-19.
“We saw the immediate needs of healthcare workers for better protective equipment,” said Darin Welter, VP of Sales at SMI. “Medical components are among the products we manufacture, so we knew we could quickly start producing face shields and get them in the hands of those who need them most.”
Cases of 100 individually bagged SMI protective face shields are already being delivered, and SMI is ready to meet ongoing demand.
